Our Roots

Brindley Engineering was founded by Tom Brindley, P.E., in 2004.  With years of field experience, Tom recognized gaps between how projects were designed and executed, and what truly added value in the process industries.

Many designs, while technically accurate, lacked constructability. There was a reluctance to explore creative and innovative solutions to challenges.  Additionally, there was a pressing need for enhanced reliability and continuous operations through data-driven predictive maintenance.  Seeing the opportunity to address these execution disconnects and improve the life cycle costs of industrial process units, combined with a passion for collaborating with dedicated, fun-loving, talented people, led to the creation of Brindley Engineering.

2004~2013
The start

From a one-person startup to managing projects across the USA, Canada, and Korea, and navigating the challenges of the Great Recession, the “BE Way” was formed.

2013
The launch

BE was awarded a series of reliability and maintenance turnarounds to repair large modular structures on the north slope of Alaska, paving the way for sustained growth.

2015
The evolution

The BE team exceeded 25 and celebrated an office expansion.

2016~2018
Firm footing

A number of key executives joined the company and long-term staff advanced, greatly expanding BE’s leadership and managerial capabilities.

2019
Further evolution

The BE team exceeded 50 employees and moved into a new office, designed to be a bright, collaborative, and fun workplace.

2020
Our finest hour

Though BE was challenged by the COVID pandemic, our team united and emerged stronger. The BE Team grew to over 75 members, with a significant increase in international projects.

2021
Culture

BE was certified as a “Great Place to Work” for the first time, with 97% of employees agreeing it’s a great workplace, – compared to 57% at a typical U.S.-based company. The team also grew to over 100 members.

2022
Culture

BE Certified as a “Great Place to Work” 2nd year in a row.

2024
Expanded Offices and Hiring of Key Executives

BE opened an office in Houston, TX, expanded our headquarters in Lisle, IL, and hired and developed more leaders and managers.

2024
Culture

BE Certified as “Great Place to Work” for the 4th year in a row. BE again earned a spot on 2024 Fortune Best Workplaces in Chicago, coming in at #18 in 2024.
